Each year our school honors our local veterans with a wonderful Veterans Day breakfast and program. This is a very special time for our students, school, and community. With Veterans Day just around the corner, I wanted my students to create some art to decorate our hallways and to welcome our veterans. This activity is very simple, takes little time, and requires few materials. All your students need are crayons, black construction paper, and white liquid glue. First, students choose a very simple shape to draw. Hearts and hand prints are two excellent choices. I have also had students draw a cloud, a tree, a star, a butterfly, and a top hat, just to name a few. Let your students be creative. Next, they color and fill in the object with red and white stripes and a blue space with white stars. I always tell my students to simply draw an asterisk for the star. (Very simple.) Instead of crayons, oil pastels or chalk works beautifully for this activity, too. Finally, the students outline their drawings in white glue and let dry. When the glue dries, it gives the outline of the drawing an iridescent quality. Very pretty, very simple, and very patriotic! These drawings look so pretty displayed on the wall or on a bulletin board. Students could also complete a writing assignment about patriotism or about Veterans Day to be hung with the art. Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a blessed day! Kelly

15^ “Veterans Day Decorations” Ideas 2019 to Make for School - Veterans Day 2019

American Flag Wreath - Patriotic Decor - Independence Day - Veterans Day - Gift for Veteran - 4th of July Decor - Independence Day Decor

Thank you for your interest in a Craft Past Midnight wreath! Our wreaths are all approximately 22" in diameter and 5-6" in depth upon completion. They are made on an straw wreath form and consist of burlap fabric, ribbons, sometimes floral, and centerpieces made of medium density fiberboard. I started making these because our home had a screen door and I was never able to find a pretty, but slim wreath to fit. These were my solution! All of my wreaths can be mixed and matched for a custom design. Please message me with any custom requests prior to placing your order. Initials for initial wreaths can be made in Vine (script), Curlz (funky and fun!), or your standard Times New Roman Fonts. Vine is only available in the 12" size, while we can do Curlz or Times New Roman in 12" or 8". We have several breeds of animals listed in our shop. We are always open to new ideas. All of our centerpieces are cut in house, and we are happy to design different breeds. As with any wreath, these are subject to fade over time. Brightly colored wreaths will fade more quickly than white or tan. Wreaths exposed to sun will fade more quickly than those that are well covered. Each wreath leaves our workshop with a generous coat of UV protective spray and we do recommend that you re-coat your wreath periodically to slow down the fading process. We do not recommend these wreaths for uncovered doors that could be exposed to weather. These are also not suitable as grave decorations. On rare occasions, ribbon may unexpectedly become out of stock or discontinued. I reserve the right to interchange different prints of the same color. For example, black and tan medallion print for black and tan chevron print. If you do not wish for any substitutions to be made, please specify at the time of purchase. This is uncommon. We appreciate your consideration, and hope to have the opportunity to decorate your front door!
